Premila Kumar is a dedicated Fijian consumer advocate, politician, and former Cabinet Minister. She served as the Chief Executive of the Consumer Council of Fiji from 2006 to 2018, leading impactful campaigns on drug prices, bank fees, and fuel prices. In 2018, she transitioned to politics, joining the FijiFirst party and serving as a Cabinet Minister in various roles, including Minister for Industry, Trade, Tourism, Local Government, Housing, and Community Development.

Kumar’s early life was marked by a strong educational foundation, with studies in India, the University of the South Pacific, and the Netherlands. Her professional journey includes roles as a government environmental advocate and an investment manager.

Throughout her career, Kumar has been recognized for her influence and leadership, including being named the most influential woman of the year by the Fiji Times in 2010 and receiving the Executive Woman of the Year Award in 2015.

Re-elected in the 2022 election, Kumar continues to serve as a member of the opposition, bringing her wealth of experience and dedication to her role.
